The Volkswagen Owners Club of Great Britain spent the weekend at Viva Skeg Vegas 2026, held on the beautiful Revesby Park Estate in Lincolnshire, and it’s safe to say we came away impressed.

It’s been many years since we last visited the event. In fact, the last time we attended as visitors, Viva Skeg Vegas was still a gathering in a car park in Skegness. Fast forward to 2026 and the show has grown into one of the biggest and most popular classic Volkswagen events in the country.

As part of our plan to mix up our show calendar this year and revisit events we haven’t attended for a while, Viva Skeg Vegas was firmly on our list. Thankfully, it more than lived up to expectations.

A Sold-Out Weekend in Lincolnshire

The popularity of Viva Skeg Vegas was evident long before the gates opened. Weekend tickets had sold out weeks in advance, and throughout the weekend the camping fields were packed with Volkswagens of every description.

The atmosphere was relaxed from the moment we arrived. Unlike some larger events that can feel rushed or overcrowded, Viva Skeg Vegas manages to maintain a laid-back, friendly vibe despite attracting thousands of visitors.

There was always something happening too. The entertainment schedule was packed with live music throughout the weekend, ensuring there was plenty to enjoy once the day’s vehicle spotting was done.

A Welcome Return of VW Parts and Autojumble

One of the standout features of Viva Skeg Vegas was something many long-time Volkswagen enthusiasts have been missing at other events in recent years… VW parts traders.

The busy autojumble area and specialist traders provided plenty of opportunities to hunt for those hard-to-find parts, accessories and project pieces. Whether you’re restoring an early split-screen bus, maintaining a Type 4 or simply looking for something unusual for your collection, there was plenty to browse.

It’s an aspect of classic VW shows that seems to be disappearing elsewhere, so it was refreshing to see it thriving here.

A Show Field Full of Rare Volkswagens

The show field was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday both saw impressive numbers of vehicles on display, ranging from beautifully preserved classics to weathered survivors proudly wearing decades of history.

What makes Viva Skeg Vegas different is that it doesn’t focus solely on polished paintwork and concours perfection. In fact, there is probably more patina and honest rust on display than there is freshly restored bodywork.

For some visitors, that may be unusual, but it is very much part of the character of the event.

Rather than rows of identical vehicles, the show field is built around carefully curated displays that celebrate specific models and eras of Volkswagen history. Throughout the weekend visitors could explore collections of Barndoor buses, Twin-door split-screen vans, Type 3 models, Cal-Look Beetles and more.

The result is a show field that feels genuinely different from many other VW events.

Rare Metal Everywhere You Look

The quality and rarity of the vehicles on display was remarkable.

At one point we counted at least 11 Barndoor buses around the showfield – a sight that would be difficult to replicate at most UK Volkswagen events.

Elsewhere, visitors were treated to an incredible variety of air-cooled Volkswagens, including split-window Beetles, Karmann Ghias, Trekkers, Type 3s and countless buses spanning multiple generations.

The emphasis wasn’t necessarily on perfection. Instead, the vehicles on display told stories, showcasing decades of use, preservation, restoration and individuality.

For enthusiasts, it made every wander around the show field worthwhile.

Watching a Build Come to Life

One particularly interesting feature throughout the weekend was the live vehicle build being undertaken by Type 2 Detectives.

Thanks to our position next to their marquee, we had front-row seats as the project progressed over the course of the event.

It was fascinating to watch the transformation unfold and added another dimension to the show beyond simply viewing finished vehicles.

The Best Part? The People

As impressive as the vehicles were, our favourite part of the weekend was undoubtedly the people.

We were delighted to meet so many club members who stopped by our stand to say hello, renew memberships, browse our merchandise or simply have a chat.

We also bumped into plenty of friends we haven’t seen for years. The relaxed pace of the event meant there was time to properly catch up, which isn’t always possible at busier shows.

That sense of community is something that has always been at the heart of the Volkswagen scene, and Viva Skeg Vegas delivered it in abundance.

Our Verdict on Viva Skeg Vegas 2026

Viva Skeg Vegas has grown enormously since its early days, but thankfully it hasn’t lost the character that made it special in the first place.

The combination of a friendly atmosphere, rare Volkswagens, quality entertainment, genuine VW parts traders and a relaxed pace made for a fantastic weekend on the Revesby Park Estate.

For enthusiasts who enjoy seeing unusual vehicles, discovering forgotten parts and catching up with friends old and new, this event offers something genuinely different.

After spending three days immersed in everything Viva Skeg Vegas had to offer, we can safely say we’ll be keeping a close eye on next year’s dates.

If you’ve never been before, we’d thoroughly recommend adding it to your Volkswagen calendar.
