VW Festival Spring Social Camp Out 2025 – Our Weekend Round-Up
We’ve just returned from an amazing weekend at the VW Festival Spring Social Camp Out, and what a brilliant few days it was!
The atmosphere throughout the weekend was fantastic – we loved seeing so many familiar faces, with plenty of people stopping by our club stand to stock up on extra goodies. It’s always special to catch up with friends we’ve met at previous shows and to share the experience with so many passionate VW enthusiasts.
Friday Arrival
We arrived on Friday evening, after wrapping up our day jobs, and set up our stall in a lovely corner pitch on the trade field – our camper on one side, and our little Lupo on the other. With everything set up, we kicked back and soaked up the live music coming from the entertainment marquee. A perfect start to the weekend!
Saturday morning saw us up bright and early to make the most of the glorious sunshine. We were really lucky with the weather – clear skies and warm temperatures set the perfect tone for the day. It wasn’t long before we were busy on the club stand, chatting to visitors interested in our vehicles – both of which proved to be real crowd-pleasers. As the day went on, the grassy area in front of our stall filled up with visitors finding prime spots to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
We couldn’t help but notice a few people wearing lampshades on their heads… a mystery at first, but one that would be explained later!
Show and Shine
During the day, while some of our volunteers looked after the stand, we took the opportunity to explore the Show & Shine area. As always with VW Festival events, the standard of vehicles on display was superb. Even the trade area showcased some incredible examples, like the bright orange T3 single cab from the aerial acrobats and a very tidy VW up! GTI displayed by one of the detailing companies.
Of course, no show weekend is complete without great food, good drinks, and lots of laughs – and we had all three in abundance. It felt so good to be back out camping in a field, enjoying the simple pleasures that make events like this so memorable.
Lampshades
As the sun set, the evening entertainment took over – and finally, the lampshade mystery was solved! A band called Lampshade took to the stage, and they were fantastic. When they launched into a cover of The Reytons’ “Slice of Lime”, we had a mass exodus of volunteers from our stall, all heading off to dance and bounce along under the marquee. A real highlight of the weekend!
Sunday morning had a much more relaxed pace. Unlike some other events, Saturday is the main day at the Spring Social, so Sunday was all about a leisurely pack-up and saying goodbye to new and old friends. After enjoying a chilled morning, we packed up just after noon and made the short drive home.
Overall, it was a brilliant weekend – great weather, great people, great cars, and a brilliant vibe. We’re already counting down to VW Festival at Harewood House later this year… and we’ll definitely be back for the Spring Social Camp Out again next year!
