Yes, you read that right, we’re bringing you our very own VW Drive-in Festival. The start of 2021 and pretty much the entirety of 2020 hasn’t been kind to the VW show scene. We’ve already lost some great shows from our calendar. So when we were offered the opportunity to host our own event, we jumped at the chance. We’d already been talking to a promoter to talk about plans to celebrate our 70th anniversary in 2023, but a chance conversation opened up an opportunity to bring you a COVID safe VW Drive-in Festival.

Exclusive VW Drive-in Festival for Volkswagen Owners Club of Great Britain Members

The Drive-in Festival will be held on the weekend of 5th & 6th June 2021 at Market Harborough Showground. Throughout the weekend you can expect:

• TWO VW Themed Drive-in Movies on a state of the art LED outdoor cinema screen
• Saturday Night Live Music/DJs (TBC)
• Quality Trade Stands
• Quality Food Stalls
• Onsite Bar
• Fun for All

COVID Safe

We’re planning this VW Drive-in Festival to be COVID safe right from the outset, so we’re confident that the event should be able to go ahead.

Tickets go on sale on Monday 1st February @ 7:30am. All members will receive an access code to access the exclusive members only ticket site. Tickets are priced at £79 per plot. Now, before you gawp at that price… that’s not each, that’s for your vehicle, occupants and camping plot. If you’re the average two adults and two kids, it’s a full weekend’s camping and entertainment including two movies for £19.75 each. We realise that single occupant vehicles get a bit of a rough deal, but in order to organise the festival to be COVID safe, we’ve strictly limited the number of vehicles/plots to 300 maximum.

This festival has to be as safe as possible for everybody. We must ask that you adhere to government guidelines at the time of the event, although we’re all keeping our fingers crossed that restrictions will be on their way out. We’re organising the festival to be safe, if the guidelines are a little more relaxed by June, then we’re classing that as a bonus. We will all have a great weekend anyway.

First of its kind

As far as we are aware, this is the first event of its kind in the sense that it is a camping drive-in cinema with evening entertainment. We therefore want to be fair to everyone. Vehicles will be positioned on the site according to their size to give you the best possible view of the screen. No one wants an Syncro LT45 parked in front of their Karmann Ghia for a drive-in cinema!

Tickets will be priced at £79 per vehicle/plot for the weekend. Ticket holders are welcome to arrive from 3pm on Friday 4th June. There is no extra charge for Friday night camping if you hold a weekend ticket. Pitches allow members of the same household, with one vehicle plus a tent. There are 300 pitches available for the camp-in-drive-in/stage area. These will be sold on a first come first served basis.

Day visitors are welcome between the hours of 9am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. All day visitors must be off site by 6pm. Day tickets are priced at £20 each and you will be allowed entry on foot into the drive-in area to watch the cinema.

VW Drive-in Festival Location

The Volkswagen Owners Club of Great Britain Drive-in Festival will be held at Market Harborough Showground, LE16 7QB. The show ground is located just outside the historic town of Market Harborough. Just 12 miles from the M1 and A14 and 28 miles from the A1, it’s easy access from which ever direction you’re heading from.
